Travelers embrace the Pura Vida lifestyle at the Marriott Vacation Club at Los Sueños in Herradura where the service feels less like a hotel and more like a welcoming family. The atmosphere is distinctively jungle luxury with Spanish Colonial architecture nestled between rainforests and the ocean. Guests rave about the complimentary golf cart eco tour which acts as a hidden gem that whisks you around the course to spot sloths and macaws right on the property. It is the ultimate mix of wildlife adventure and lazy river relaxation.
This resort was a great experience. It’s about 2 hours from the SJO airport and pretty remote from other tourist spots but close to other resorts and hotels. You really don’t have to leave the resort if you don’t want to, but you can if you choose. There is a small town about a 15-minute walk down the beach. Keep in mind that high tide is twice a day so plan accordingly. The food at Bar Ocho was good and fresh. In the small town nearby we found a good spot for the local fave of gallo pinto called Soda Bahia. A few doors down from that was Coco’s. They did not use fresh/real seafood. The gym at the resort was sufficient. It was small but had plenty of equipment. The buffet at Hacienda was good, but not really worth $40 per person. Although, the fresh juices were much appreciated. Overall, the Vacation Club was a great place to stay. I can’t forget the views of the mountains and ocean. The birds and wildlife are plentiful too. It felt clean, luxurious, safe, and the staff was hospitable and helpful. I can’t wait to go back!
