Midway’s history dates back to its early pioneer days when the Schneitter family operated a beloved resort for 67 years, attracting visitors from across the country for its warm hospitality, delicious cuisine, and soothing hot water baths. The town’s name originates from “Fort Midway,” situated between two historic settlements—Mound City, where Zermatt Resort now stands, and Stringtown, near Soldier Hollow. This site, once a venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics, continues to host Nordic skiing and biathlon events, as well as winter tubing and snowshoeing. In the summer, guests can enjoy two championship 18-hole golf courses, the Gold and Silver Courses, named in honor of the Olympics.
