My wife and I stayed at Blue Bay for her birthday. Overall, the stay was nice- we had a room (building 5) that overlooked the pool area and had a partial view of the ocean- that was gorgeous. Staff was very friendly and welcoming! Due to the copious amounts of seaweed on the beach, we couldn't lounge there or get in the water. And the smell was terrible - not the resorts fault, though. The buffet wasn't bad, but one morning during breakfast, we watched a bird come down and take a piece of scrambled egg right from the hot bar. Note: I was eating those same eggs. What I didn't like was falling into a " 90 minute presentation", where a salesperson greets you the morning after your arrival, sits and has breakfast with you, asks you a bunch of questions, take you on a tour of the grounds, and then tries to sell you on a vacation package - not just any vacation package; one that locks you in for 10+ years and for around $69,000 USD. Seriously. When I asked for time to leave and think things over with my wife and review our finances, the salesperson wouldn't consider it. Nor did he have a business card we could have in order to reach out to him at a later time. Given this, I don't believe that this is the right resort for us for future travel to Cancun. The goal of a vacation is to relax, not be hassled into spending money that is large enough for the down payment on a house. Also, bring your own face towels - as they do not offer any.
