We were in one of their lower cost rooms so didn't expect a lot as we were in New York to see the sights and just wanted somewhere to sleep. The hotel is in a great location and staff were lovely but the room was really poor. The tiles on the bathroom floor were broken and actually rocked under your feet. They moved so much it felt as if they would pinch the soles of your feet if you weren't careful. The sink was cracked and had been repaired at some point. The shower was tepid at best even on the hottest setting. The room was clean and it had a comfy bed. When leaving they asked if all was well with my stay and I told them about the room. They said they know about the quality of the rooms but are shortly doing a full upgrade so it will be better after that. They also said I should have said something and they would have moved me. That's not acceptable to me, I've moved rooms before in hotels and you have to wait half a day, repack all your things to move and then unpack and it basically wastes most of a day's holiday, so wanting to make the most of New York we put up with it. In my view the hotel are totally wrong to rent out that room when they are aware of it's condition, especially for full price. They hoped I'd come back after the refresh. I doubt I would. They have a lovely rooftop bar and ground floor bistro that are part of the building but seem to be run as separate concerns. Would recommend them not the hotel.
