We stayed at Plantation Island with my son (13) and parents in April 2025. It is a great location for families and I'd describe it as a Big4 Camping experience. The accommodation is varied, and I think we were in an older part of the resort. The room was comfortable, but looking tired in places with dirty ceilings in the bathroom due to poor ventilation and dirty fans. But overall relatively clean elsewhere. The food was buffet to al-a-carte. The service at the Tavolo restaurant was exceptionally slow, waiting over 40 minutes for breakfast and dinner to come out. Staff were friendly enough, but it had a camp ground staff and not high end resort feel to it all. Great place for young kids with lots of safe water activities etc to do. There is a bit of construction going on which detracts from the relaxing atmosphere if you want a quiet beach holiday with good views - you'll get a bit of hammer and saw noise in the background! We also found that the meal plan was expensive compared to just eating off the menu - might be better value if your kids are of the age to eat free. Overall, a great place to visit for families and if you are the sort of family that would have fun and be comfortable staying in a cabin at a Big4 campground in Australia, then this is probably fine for you. If you are looking for a 5 star resort experience, then this is not for you.
