Oops!We ran out of stays at this resort.Click here to find something better!
I’m literally writing this review from the airport…I couldn’t wait until I got home. The Crown Paradise Golden is a ran down hotel that needs a lot of updates. When I arrived (1:30pm on a Thursday). I was told that I was unable to officially check in until 3pm. This was no problem seeing as though I was allowed to explore the resort while I waited. However, even getting that information took nearly 30 minutes due to the ridiculously long line at the check in counter. I had to wait an additional 20 minutes when my official check in time came….again due to the long lines. The elevator on my side of the building was broken so the bell boy had to help me carry my luggage up 5 flights of stairs. Once I opened the door to my room, I noticed that the room had not been cleaned. The bed had no linens on it and the pillows had no pillowcases. I tired using the phone to contact the front desk…only to find that the phone did not work. I went back down to the receptionist (waiting again due to long lines) and requested a room that was actually ready to be occupied. I was told that there was one room on the first floor or I could wait until housekeeping came…the receptionist estimated the wait time for that to be about 30 minutes. I opted to wait because my reservation was for an ocean view room. The housekeeping staff came 2 hours later and literally only took 10 minutes to clean the room (piss poor). The phone was never fixed despite the fact that I went to the check-in desk daily to report the problem. My issue with the phone is that I could not contact the front desk and due to where my room was, it was quite a long walk. On Saturday, the hot water in the bathroom started coming out brown and opening the door with the key card became tricky. All things that I reported to the front desk. Now let’s cover the “all-inclusive” piece. You have to make a reservation for 3 of the restaurants; however, they don’t tell you that reservations can only be made during the hours of Noon- 2pm daily. I was late for a reservation one night due to the an excursion going a little late. I was denied entry and told that I would need to go eat at the buffet downstairs. Now let’s talk about the buffet….my only issue (a big one though), is that birds were practically allowed to eat from the buffet. I understand that an open air concept would possibly bring such issues, however the staff did little to prevent/help the situation. They were basically acting like it’s normal for the birds to eat from the same containers that the food was being served in. It was mind blowing and quite disgusting. The gym is not worth a damn. Two out of the three treadmills were broken…actually most of the equipment was broken. The seats smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned in years. I would suggest just going for a run on the beach. Now, I’ll share a few redeeming qualities. The location is nice…not too far from the airport and the beach set up is amazing for someone who is seeking a calmer and less busy experience. If you use Amtrak for a transfer service, they are very accommodating and helpful. The bar in the main area makes great drinks. I enjoyed the Miami Vice the most out of their signature drinks. In conclusion, if you are just wanting to be on the beach….go for it. However, I feel like an all inclusive experience should be practically worry/care free. No matter how big or small your issues is, it should be attended to. My concerns were put on a back burner and never addressed. This was supposed to be my “Eat, Pray, Love trip”…However, due to the aforementioned issues it missed the mark. I could say more but I’ll leave it at this… there are other options in the area and Zona Romantica that may provide a better experience.
