I had not stayed at the Pacific for many decades - so was interested to see what the fuss was about. I selected the Surf Crest Resort because they had several very good reviews, it looked interesting and they were running a 50% off 2nd night - prior to Memorial Day. First, the service was great - Trevor was a fountain of information - and provided history. John was a great guy - super accommodating to have our room cleaned fragrance free due to my wife's allergies - and they did a phenomenal job. Melody was also very friendly - though I would encourage fragrance free room fresheners/sanitizers - that was really strong - and days after she left - BUT she is a great service provider. Not sure why there are any complaints - the rooms are very decent. It is true that the spiral staircase is a bit of a challenge - and takes a bit to get used to (also, bring your slippers because it has a rocks surface). It looks cool - but it is steep - and thus the bathroom is downstairs - and the bedrooms are upstairs. The kitchen counter is a little small - but no different than a standard hotel room. We had our own gear so used very little kitchen gear. The hot tub was definitely warm. I did not go into the swimming pool. The location is way off the road - so no road noise. The only bit of a disappointment was that the ocean was not in direct view - evidently it used to be but the geography has substantially changed. However, the walk to the beach is pleasant - and the upper deck view of the larger surrounding grounds was quite lovely with all the goldenrod and other flowering shrubs. It is quite close to Ocean Shores - which is where all "the action" is. It is better than any of the resorts to the north based on my somewhat concentrated views. I would definitely lodge there again if I am in the area.
