I've been coming to Riptide Beach Club since I was a little kid due to my family owning a timeshare with some of their rooms. They seem to want to do right by their guests but also seem to struggle in a lot of areas - as of 2025 the biggest hurdle seemed to be not having enough staff if I had to guess. From what I've heard they only have like 3 or so people doing housekeeping or something crazy like that. The bad: Every year though it's as if they make a change that's generally for the greater good at the cost of 1 or 2 new major things that I feel need to be fixed. This year, it was the clear signage in the parking lot stating where compact cars were to park and designating a specific spot to motorcycles and golf carts. At the cost of this though it seemed like parts of the floor in our room were heavily scratched up or dirty, the shower water pressure was abysmal (I think this has always been an issue but I cant remember) and the sink closest to the bathroom had a broken drain stopper. Also it feels like despite having posted rules at the pool, nobody obeys them. Children run amok and sometimes people will just use the pools and jacuzzi in the middle of the night. Also as of 2025 the beach towels provided to guests by the hotel are TINY now. They were always kinda small but this one barely drapes around my shoulders!! The good: For what its worth whenever we directly complained to the front desk about something being broken, someone was sent to look at the issue and attempt to fix it. On our first day, someone got locked out on our balcony due to an issue with the sliding door. Within a few minutes a staff member came and was able to let them inside and fix the door so it wouldn't happen again. One of the housekeeping guys also very generously helped us carry our luggage up to our room, and even joked that we didn't let him help us carry our luggage out to our car when we were checking out. The community events run by riptide which take place practically every day during the summer are quite nice and fun and good at bringing people together. The owners meeting seemed to be an in and out sort of thing this year but to me that always felt like more of a formality than Riptide actually hearing out peoples complaints. The AC also worked really well this year and kept our room nice and cool practically the entire time, this was something that felt like it was a tad off last year but was hardly noticeable in 2025. The short version: Riptide seems to genuinely care about its guests but doesn't seem to have the manpower to meet the demands of everyone who stays here. Granted they are trying, just the rate at which big changes are made, is a little slow. Final verdict: If you can get into the tight knit community at Riptide you may come to love it. You may even make friends with other owners who have the same week booked that you do every year! Who knows? If you're curious about Riptide and are thinking about staying there, Id say to just try it yourself and form your own opinion. Like anything, there's a lot of good and bad. It gets 4 stars from me and that's probably purely out of nostalgia for how long I've been coming here.
