Fairway Forest Resort was a great stay overall! The rooms have been recently renovated and were very clean, with modern touches, fast WiFi, and nice TVs. We especially loved the oversized tub and walk-in showers—everything felt spacious and comfortable. The balcony had beautiful views and was a perfect spot to unwind after a day of hiking. The location is also a huge plus—very convenient for accessing nearby trails, waterfalls, and parks. Gorges State Park is just a short drive away, offering stunning waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and a variety of hiking trails suitable for all skill levels. While the resort doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, there are several excellent dining options nearby. Mica’s Restaurant & Pub offers a cozy atmosphere and a diverse menu featuring everything from juicy burgers to fresh seafood. For a more upscale experience, Canyon Kitchen provides farm-to-table dining in a picturesque setting surrounded by granite cliffs. Panthertown Cafe is a great spot for breakfast or lunch, known for its French toast and Eggs Benedict, and is conveniently located near the Grassy Ridge entrance of Gorges State Park. The rec center had a lot to offer: indoor and outdoor pools, hot tubs, a gym, walking track, sauna, kids’ play area, and basketball court. While the amenities were a nice bonus, they’re definitely showing some age. The pool wasn’t the cleanest, and we noticed they were regularly adding water to the hot tubs without visibly testing or adding chemicals, which was a bit concerning. That said, the staff was fantastic—friendly, responsive, and quick to assist whenever needed. With some updates to the rec facilities, this would easily be a 5-star stay. Still highly recommend for the comfort, location, and overall experience!
