Travelers seeking a break from generic hotels adore WorldMark San Diego - Inn at the Park for its distinct 1920s character and quiet Bankers Hill location. The staff earns frequent praise for their warm, responsive service that perfectly complements the building's historic soul. While the suites impress with high ceilings and classic details, the true standout is the rooftop terrace; this hidden gem offers a peaceful perch with stunning panoramic views of Balboa Park and the bay, ideal for a sunset away from the crowds.
What a pleasant surprise for our San Diego staycation. Had some leftover Wyndham timeshare points to use and decided to check out Inn at the Park. Was surprised to see that it actually has three branded timeshares who are all part of Wyndham now, but they appear to have chosen to keep their own identity. Wyndham owners get the top three floors, WordMark has the lower three. Shell Vacations is in there somewhere. But the real treat was the hotel itself. At ninety-nine years old, this former Park Manor Apartment Suites, has been converted into a lovely untypical place to stay; not your typical timeshare resort. We were in a corner 2-bedroom unity with views (though distant) of both Mission Bay and overlooking parts of Balboa Park. The hotel is going through renovations and ours was one that had been completed. Nice kitchen with banquette seating (quite unique). Room had carpet throughout which is not the norm these days and much appreciated by my feet. The 7th floor houses the timeshare folks, but also has an almost-180-degree panoramic view (actually feels like you are on a cruise ship up there). The staff are friendly (and not as pushy with regards to timeshare presentations) and helpful. Parking is $25/day on the lot behind the hotel. It's a mile walk to the entrance to Balboa Park, under a canopy of trees, so very pleasant. There are also dining options within walking distance. It is a car/Uber/Lyft ride away from Little Italy, Gaslamp District, or Petco Park where some Padre baseball can be found. This all makes this stay a bit quieter than being right downtown where Wyndham's other San Diego property is located. Highly recommend if you want a little space but still enjoy all that San Diego has to offer.
