Managed as an estate all aspects of life on Tresco are focused on the visitors, either going to the Abbey Gardens or those staying in accommodation in New or Old Grimsby. Of the two New Grimsby has the shop, estate office, bike hire, boat quay for inter island travel, swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and the spa facilities. Old Grimsby has the Ruin bar and restaurant and some smaller appartments (rather than the larger group / family units in New Grimsby). The island is beautiful with easy walks right round the coast from the heather and rock windswept heath in the North to the sheltered sand and beaches of the South where the Gardens are, protected by a belt of trees on the higher ground. The heliport is next to the Gardens entrance.
