It's basically a private neighborhood with pools, restaurants, tennis courts, gyms and more. Yes, they have a giant pool with it's own beach, but 10 minutes away you have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It feels like half the resort is under construction, and the rooms we stayed in were pretty old. Breakfast wasn't great, and it felt like half the staff didn't care whether you stayed or not. Staff members at the pool/beach told kids not to run (on a beach?), they told us we had to pay $50 USD per person per day for the water slide and water obstacle course (on top of the $25 per person we had to pay to even get in the pool), and tried to charge us $50 USD for a hotel room key we lost at the pool. They made us all wear one of those stupid wrist bands all over town and the hotel for the entire week, just to enter the pool. And the discounts they advertised were almost always not available at the stores for one reason or another. The cleaning crew was awesome and probably the best part of our stay. The place isn't horrible. It just feels like it's in the wrong location. Punta is beautiful and safe, and full it great homes to rent. Don't let the photos fool you.
