We stayed in one of the lower floor cabins set back in the second row from the beach. It is easy to be enamored the surroundings and, indeed, Tofino and environs are beautiful but Ocean Village cannot take all the credit for the natural beauty. The question you have to ask is: What would you fairly expect in your accommodations if you had to pay $400-500 a night? I appreciate the quaint rustic vibe up to a point, but the in-suite amenities and fixtures were dated and did not reflect the cost of the room. The bed was adequate but the sofas were awful, like from a dorm room in the 90's. Bathroom and kitchenette facilities would perhaps be sufficient to some, but I felt were substandard and not on par with a typical modern Holiday Inn, for instance. The floors were not clean and I noticed dust, dirt, and hair in crevices. Additionally, if you are at all anxious about security and privacy, the external door was a flimsy wooden board with a push button lock on the knob, as you would find on an interior bathroom door. A ground level window is adjacent to the bed so if you yourself are prone to nightly cries of passion, just be mindful. As icing on the cake, one of the large picture frames of the three hanging over the headboard fell onto me as I slept in the middle of the night. Nevertheless, staff were perfectly nice and the area is gorgeous and we, in fact, had a nice time on the whole, but, in the simplest terms, we did not get the value that we paid for in the accommodations. I would just advise this: You could pay less for nicer suites and then drive and take a short walk to the beach.
