We chose Occidental based on a friend's recommendation who had previously enjoyed another one of their resorts. Occidental Punta Cana stood out to us as the best value for money. Initially, I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised! Food: There was a great variety of food, especially at the poolside Snack Bar. They served the best burger I've ever had! And the Tacos... AMAZING! Room: Our room was nice and spacious with good amenities. However, the cleanliness of the faucet and countertop was a bit disappointing; they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, as did the shower. What I found particularly odd was the muddy smell from the water coming out of the taps and shower. This could be a cleaning issue, or perhaps it's just the quality of the local water. Water: Always drink from bottled water. Beach: The beach was lovely and not too crowded, feeling very safe. Staff: The staff was absolutely amazing and always helpful. They were consistently happy and treated everyone wonderfully. (In the photo, our FAVORITE staff) Overall: 9.9/10 By the way, we're already planning to go back next year and will definitely choose the same hotel!
