Guests choose Marriott's Timber Lodge in South Lake Tahoe for its unbeatable position as a lively basecamp in Heavenly Village. The atmosphere feels like a bustling alpine community, balancing rustic coziness with immediate access to local dining. While the valet service can get overwhelmed during peak hours, the staff earns praise for the seamless ski concierge that handles your gear storage. The real game-changer is the gondola entrance located just steps from the front door, allowing you to go from your room to the mountain in minutes.
We stayed 2 nights in the spring after ski season, but there was snow and sunshine too. No matter what the weather was, there was so much to see and do there. We were greeted by a very nice helpful valet, who helped us figure out the best parking options and Jayme, who was dressed as a bear! She not only checked us in, but made us feel welcome and gave us a thorough rundown of all of the resorts amenities. The Concierge Mackenzie was there early next morning to help us plan our one day exploring Lake Tahoe. She gave us exactly the information we needed. Thank you all. The resort itself was well designed for travelers with automatic doors, coat hooks and lots of activities daily. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained and perfectly located at the Heavenly Valley Gondola and surrounded by many many shops and entertainment venues. We even could walk from this resort in California into Nevada! We hope to return in the summer for the steam room, a stretch/yoga classes and pool.
