Terrible experience at this hotel. My wife’s parents have lived in Merida for over 45 years and my wife grew up there. Apparently this hotel was one of the best but it seems to have fallen from grace rather spectacularly. I was completely taken a back when the staff demanded that my elderly parents in law pay 70,000 bolívares for the privelage to sit by the pool! To cap it all having asked to speak to the most senior staff member available she was both rude and unhelpful. She even had the nerve to say that I was not able to speak Spanish (having worked for over ten years in both Spain and parts of South America it is now fluent) - I was also as polite as I could be when trying to resolve what I believed to be totall unjust. There were only a handful of guests staying there and one single family (not guests) using the pool! Merida is an awesome place but if you are looking for a good place to stay avoid this hotel like the plague!!!
