I’ve traveled all over the world and stayed in everything from tents to 5 star hotels and have been caught up in earthquakes, hurricanes, ash clouds and shootings but I can safely say I’ve never had a worse holiday than my premium sea view stay in the Ramada Costa del Sol. I had chosen my accommodation very carefully selecting the premium sea view so I wasn’t too far from the restaurant and main facilities due to a health issue. The premium section also offers 2 pools for a small number of apartments. On my arrival I was disappointed to see that one of the pools was closed but what I wasn’t expecting was jackhammers, circular saws, hand drilling, hammers and the general smells and sounds of a construction site to start every morning at 8.30am, 5ft from my window. I complained on the first day and they sent a bottle of plonk as an apology and offered a late checkout. I thought this was nice but I didn’t know then it would take place every day of my holiday, the noise not the gifts. On the second day the jackhammer was louder and longer so I got back on the phone to complain, the rude staff on reception accused me of shouting, I certainly could have been but who can tell when your beside a jackhammer!! They offered to move me to another apartment which was great until they tried to offload a cheap apartment in the bowels of the resort with no refund of the price difference(which also would have left me trapped unable to get to the restaurants due to the aforementioned health issues), no one is going to pay for first class and sit in economy so I didn’t even bother to get out of the car. Then they offered me another premium apartment just 5ft further than I was already, that was not going to help at all. I continued to complain and expressed my outrage at the disgusting corporate greed that drove them to knowingly sell holidays in a section of the resort with a construction site, I suggested that if they truly were customer focused they would offer breakfast every morning to get the holiday makers out so they could do their work, they did do this on 1 morning. In Zacs bar there was a large collection of very unhappy holidaymakers commiserating with each other for different issues with the resort. So if you want to save hard for a holiday on a construction site, have the possibility to move to a cheaper apartment with no rebate and in return for your holiday being ruined get a bottle of plonk, a breakfast and a late checkout the Ramada is for you. Please also remember when they have the nerve to respond to this review the Ramada were given plenty of opportunities to resolve my construction nightmare but didn’t. Oh they did offer some Ramada points as well, I won’t be staying in one again so I declined- fool me once . Worst holiday ever!
