The hotel itself was fine. The staff were friendly and helpful, both at reception and the tour desk. The facilities including pool and gym were great. We stayed in a three-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment which was clean and met our expectations. It’s in a fantastic spot in Surfers Paradise, within walking distance to everything we needed, which made getting around really easy. We felt the value for money was pretty fair and were happy with what we got for the price we paid. However, if we had paid a premium rate, we probably would have been a bit disappointed, as the apartment was showing signs of wear and tear and could use some maintenance in a few areas. The main issue during our stay was the location of our room. Being on Level 2 and close to the road meant there was a lot of traffic noise, which continued throughout the day and night. While we eventually got used to it as background noise, it is something that could easily bother most guests staying in these low level rooms. What really impacted our experience was the noise from the bins being emptied early every morning, usually between 4 and 5 am. The crashing was extremely loud and always woke us up. At times it honestly sounded like something had exploded outside. Unfortunately, by the end of the stay we were in need of some good rest as all the nights we stayed were disrupted by some form of loud noises keeping us awake. Overall, it is a good hotel in a convenient location. We would consider staying again, but only if we were in a room on a higher floor or in one that had better soundproofing to help avoid the noise issues.
