Sanibel is a beautiful, laid back place with lots of great restaurants, and Caribe Beach Resort’s location is great. It is on the beach, mid-island so within 10 minutes of everything. The people working here are very helpful and friendly, especially Jerry. The landscaping is lush and beautiful. The bikes you can use to ride around the island are in good shape. The place is quaint. We rated this place 3 stars because the rooms REALLY need updated. The kitchenette is in pet good shape except The dishwasher in the unit is rusted inside (not washing the dishes we’re using in there!), the coffee pot warming plate was rusted. The rug in the living room is matted down, the ice maker and air conditioning makes all kinds of noise (they do work though!), the patio sliding door takes super strength to open. The room has a Murphy bed with sheets that are super thin and scratchy, and the mattress is really uncomfortable. The bathroom is so small you can barely close the door without getting into the tub first. The pool and hot tub are a good size for a property this size but both could use cleaned. The tables on the pool deck are falling apart. The garbage cans around the property could use emptied more often, especially the one by the beach entrance. There are left over pieces of wood, 2x4s, between the “A” building and the beach entrance. We will probably not come back unless they update the rooms and fix several issues, and if we did, we will not rent the studio room again.
