We spent a week in a villa at the beginning of February - not a good time to go, as nearly all the places we would have liked to visit were closed, including, castles, tunnels, National Trust properties etc. The location however was excellent, and only 17mins on the 16 bus to either Canterbury or Folkestone. It runs every 20mins and stops at the entrance. There is no tourist information offered at reception or in the hotel. The villa was comfortable, but we were cold all week, with heating on, and a bill of £79 at the end (1 bedroom was unused and unheated). The small kitchen was fine, but could be better equipped - one frying pan to cook breakfast for 6 people (fortunately only 2 of us), and never enough saucepans? We felt management had really cut back on what is provided - there were no toiletries at all, no dressing table or even shelf in the bedroom, no niceties like tissues, no television in the bedroom. These were things we are accustomed to finding in all the previous timeshares we've visited, and it certainly doesn't compare with our own Cameron House weeks. The cutlery supplied was poor, and mismatched, and the inventory mentioned a coffee machine and complimentary tea, coffee, sugar - none of which could be found. Most unwelcoming were the lists of rules we were presented with on arrival in the villa, including the instruction to strip the beds, and place all used linen and towels, ready for the cleaner, when we leave. What do we pay our maintenance fees for? The dining table needed to be pulled out, as the space was too tight to get a person either side - most difficult to try and get 6 people around it. There was no heated towel rail in the bathroom, so the only way to dry the towels, was to hang them over the radiators. The grounds, and route to the hotel were very poorly lit. On a more positive note, there were plenty of towels provided, the beds were very comfortable, but with cheap duvets, and there were more than enough coathangers. The trollies for luggage were a welcome idea, as you cannot park beside the villas. It would be great in the summer, being only a short drive to several seaside resorts, but we wouldn't return.
